Carleton Fitness Facilities
- Are open to:
- Current students (with tuition-based access)
- Staff and faculty (with a membership)
- Alumni and community members (with a purchased membership or pass)
- Guest passes are also available
Where are the fitness facilities located?
- The main fitness centre is located in the Athletics Building, which also houses the pool, studios, and other recreation spaces.
- Additional facilities include:
- The Raven’s Perch (weight & cardio area)
- Indoor track
- Multipurpose rooms for group fitness
- Squash courts and gymnasiums
What equipment is available at the Fitness Centre?
- The Fitness Centre is equipped with:
- Free weights & Olympic lifting platforms
- Resistance machines
- Cardio machines (treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, rowers)
- Functional training areas (sled track, TRX, kettlebells)
Is there support for beginners or those returning to exercise?
- Staff and trainers can guide you through equipment use, beginner workouts, and safe exercise techniques.
- Workshops and introductory classes are also available
Fitness Classes
Are group fitness classes offered?
- Carleton offers a variety of group fitness classes such as
- Yoga
- Zumba
- Spin
- Bootcamps
- HIIT
Please Note
Schedules change each term. Classes are included with most memberships or can be accessed with a pass.
Do I need to register for fitness classes?
- Some classes require pre-registration (especially limited-capacity ones), while others are drop-in. Registration can be done online through Carleton Athletics’ portal.
Personal Training
Are personal training services available?
- Yes, certified personal trainers are available for private and small group sessions.
- Services include:
- Fitness assessments
- Custom workout programs
- Ongoing coaching and support
Who can sign up for personal training?
- Open to anyone aged 14 and older
Membership required?
- No membership needed – sessions take place in the Personal Training Studio only
What happens when you arrive?
- Park in P5, head to Alumni Hall Welcome Centre with ID
- Trainer will meet you and escort you to the Personal Training Studio
Do sessions expire?
- Yes, based on the package you buy; details are provided at purchase
How to get started
- Purchase a consultation or package via rec.carleton.ca → Personal Training
- Within 48 hrs, you’ll get an e-mail to collect:
- Availability
- Goals
- Trainer preferences
- Training experience
- Any medical/injury info
- Once assigned, book your session, park in P5 (parking included), meet at Welcome Centre
- Trainer escorts you to the studio
Membership
What is the cost of a fitness membership?
- Check the Membership website for membership and drop-in price options.
How do I stay updated on fitness programs and events?
- Visit athletics.carleton.ca
- Follow @carletonathletics on social media
- Subscribe to the email newsletter for schedules, updates, and promotions
Lockers
- Day lockers available for client use.
- 3 hour maximum
- No overnight use, please ensure you remove all your belongings at the end of the day as lockers are routinely cleared
